Why The PlayStation 3 Is Losing Ground To The Xbox 360 And The Wii
Many years ago a new Sega tried to be the first to make a CD operated game console but failed with both the Sega CD and the Dreamcast. This brought Sega’s dream of creating a console crashing down. Is PlayStation next?
First PlayStation is doing terribly and is lagging behind the Wii and Xbox in sales. What does this mean for PlayStation? Gaming companies will allocate more funds towards the WII and Xbox, as they know that’s where the sells are.
Why is PlayStation falling behind?
First thing is cost. Equipping each system with a blu ray player was worthless. It is a gaming console; a DVD player would have fit in just fine and would have lowered the price. Right now, the global economy is in a recession and having the most expensive gaming console is not the best idea. Blu Ray movies are twice the price of a DVD, just another downfall.
I don’t see PlayStation going the way Sega has but they really need to drop prices before everyone is focused solely on the Xbox or Wii. The PlayStation does offer some nice feature like free online game play which Xbox charges for and it also has a built in wireless adapter that Xbox charges for but here again most people play solo or without a connection.
There are many ways that PlayStation could have come out with a cheaper system. Also PlayStation should have learned from Sega’s mistakes, stick to what you do best gaming. Don’t worry about future media unless it’s mainstream which may take a couple years for Blu-ray.
